The Cholesterol Test That Actually Tells You Something
Most people with heart attacks had "normal" cholesterol. The standard panel misses the markers that matter most. This one doesn't.

What you'll actually learn
- Whether your ApoB (particle count) puts you at higher risk than your basic LDL number suggests
- If you carry elevated Lipoprotein(a) — a heritable condition that silently raises heart attack risk and doesn't respond to diet or statins
- The size and density of your LDL particles — small, dense LDL drives plaque; large LDL mostly doesn't
- Your complete lipid picture: total cholesterol, HDL, triglycerides, non-HDL, and calculated ratios
Why your regular cholesterol test is leaving you in the dark
The standard lipid panel has barely changed since the 1970s. It gives you four numbers — total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides — and calls it done. The problem: those numbers are a rough estimate. Plenty of people have heart attacks with an LDL that looks perfectly fine on paper.
What the standard panel misses: how many cholesterol-carrying particles are actually in your blood. Whether those particles are the small, artery-penetrating kind or the larger, mostly harmless kind. And whether you inherited Lipoprotein(a) — a condition affecting roughly 1 in 5 people that silently raises heart attack risk and doesn't show up on a regular panel. This test measures all of it.
This panel makes sense if...
- Your cholesterol is borderline and your doctor said "let's just watch it" — but you'd rather know
- Heart disease runs in your family, especially before age 60
- You've been told your LDL looks okay, but something still feels off
- You're already on a statin and want to know if it's actually working

Important notes
- This panel is for preventive evaluation, not for acute symptoms. Chest pain, shortness of breath, or pressure in your chest need emergency care — call 911.
- Results are most useful when reviewed alongside your full medical picture, not in isolation.
